As part of the PRISM Extended Mentoring Program, Scholars receive 6–12 months of structured mentoring, project-based learning, and research development support from an assigned faculty mentor.
This program helps Scholars strengthen their NIH grant readiness by continuing work on either:
A PRISM-related grant proposal, or
A manuscript based on preliminary or secondary data, to produce a publishable article to support future funding applications.
Eligibility
Required Criteria
In addition to meeting the general PRISM eligibility requirements, applicants for the Scholars Program must demonstrate the following:
Completion of the 6-day PRISM Summer Institute (2023 or later) with all deliverables submitted on time.
Willingness to sign a contract committing to the 6–12 month extended mentoring program and annual data collection requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to incorporate mentor feedback into proposal or manuscript development
Active engagement and participation during the PRISM Summer Institute
Positive endorsement to participate in the extended mentoring program from the Institute Mentor
Program Deliverables
Scholars must complete the following requirements during and after the program:
Signed contract confirming participation in the extended mentoring program.
Submission of a full draft of a grant proposal or manuscript by the end of the program.
Submission of mentor session reports and progress logs.
Completion of the PRISM Annual Survey and submission of a current CV for up to 4 years following participation.
